All of Bethesda Game Studios' games have been huge successes, achieving massive sales and concurrent players, and with Starfield the studio doesn't expect it to be any different.
Director Todd Howard, talking to the BBC portal, commented on the exclusivity of the game on Xbox, not being available for PlayStation consoles. Despite being available on fewer platforms, he doesn't expect it to have a smaller audience.
On the contrary, Howard claims that being associated with Xbox makes it easier for users to access games, which he believes will result in the greatest release from the studio to date, even though it's on a smaller number of platforms.
When you're making something unique, you can focus more. You know this is the hardware or this is what people are playing games on, so the ability to focus on that always makes a better product. You want people to be able to play it, of course. But being with Xbox means there's ease of access for us, and I'm told we expect more people to play this [game] at launch than anything we've done before, and that's despite the success of our previous games.
To give you an idea of the success of Bethesda's games, Fallout 4 managed to sell 12 million copies worldwide and generate a profit of $750 million for the company on the day of its launch.
Starfield is available now for PC and Xbox Series X/S, in addition to Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming services.
