Elden Ring, finally ray tracing?

Elden Ring, finally ray tracing?

Elden Ring

Maybe we're here for real: according to some movements detected by SteamDB, in fact, Elden Ring could soon adopt ray tracing. The announcement obviously isn't there yet, but FromSoftware would be right at work introducing a patch over the next few days. This would be excellent news for all those who bought the title on PC last year and who have been waiting for the introduction of the technical feature for some time.

It is not the first time that ray tracing has been talked about in Elden Ring. Already in February 2023, the modder Lance McDonald had managed to enable the technical feature, a sign of how FromSoftware had actually already worked on something like this. Therefore, being already present within the title, but not enabled and without support, it is very likely that the development team has spent the last few months optimizing ray tracing for an official introduction, precisely through patches. Clearly these are only speculations at the moment, but the latest movements traced by SteamDB give hope for the best.

While this is wonderful news, there are those who fear the worst. Already at launch, the PC version of Elden Ring was not in the best condition (as are most of the Japanese games that are published on Steam and the Epic Games Store). And someone is already shouting at the danger of the frame rate and DLSS or AMD FidelityFX can do little. The hope is that at the launch of ray tracing, corrective patches can then follow in case of problems.

This has been brought to my attention from Elden Ring's steamdb… while I don't know what it means, I can just say this smells like the famous Ray Tracing patch. Tomorrow? pic.twitter.com/zz6IAUNN6Z

Launched last year (you can get your copy on Amazon), Elden Ring will be enriched later with a future expansion, announced yesterday. However, details in this regard are scarce and it will be necessary to wait a little longer before being able to really find out everything about the new content.
