Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt RED thought by now that they had left behind all the controversies related to the serious problems that plagued Cyberpunk 2077 at launch. However, after the release of the game, the developers found themselves in a whirlwind of controversy that also generated legal actions, one of which recently ended in favor of the Polish software house.
The class action in question was initiated by investors who, in 2021, sued CD Projekt RED accusing the studio of wanting to profit from a game not ready for the market. In this regard, the evidence presented by the prosecution has been multiple and includes episodes such as the withdrawal of Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store until the title has been improved. Another testimony is given by the full refund that Microsoft has offered to all dissatisfied buyers of the open world distributed by the Polish studio.
The legal action ended in these days and led to a negative outcome for CD Projekt RED. The studio, in fact, will have to pay 1.85 million dollars to investors as compensation for the excessively compromised state in which Cyberpunk 2077 was launched. It seems, in fact, that the developers have voluntarily omitted the large number of bugs present in the title in order to obtain concessions taxes and, therefore, will be forced to compensate investors.
In the two years following its launch, however, Cyberpunk 2077 (which you can buy on Amazon) has radically changed its nature and is now a totally new title. The sales figures of the last few months have skyrocketed, setting several records, also thanks to the Edgerunner anime series recently released on Netflix, and the bug and instability problems now seem to have been overcome. Finally, fans are preparing for the arrival of the first and only DLC for CD Projekt RED's open world.
