Volkswagen has announced plans to unveil “the newest member of the 100% electric family” at CES 2023, the Consumer Electronics Show that takes place every year in early January in Las Vegas. Nevada. According to reports from CarBuzz , the car unveiled will be the ID.Aero, a 100% electric sedan that will join the existing range of zero-emission models, which in recent months has been enriched by the new ID.Buzz, a modern and 100% electric by the historic Bulli .
Initially called I.D. Vizzion Concept, ID.Aero should be unveiled in a first non-definitive version, right on the occasion of the American fair, waiting for the German house to define the design of the version that will go into production; to date we are not even sure of the name, as ID.Aero could be replaced by a name that follows the rest of the range which, with the exception of ID.Buzz, relies on simple numbers. At the moment no official documents have been found in which the name of the car is mentioned, and it is possible that VW has not yet registered it.
There is little technical information available about ID.Aero: we know that it will undoubtedly be based on the MEB platform already used for all other ID models, and according to some rumors the interior design should be absolutely minimal, with the infotainment system performing almost all the functions of the car.
The starting configuration will almost certainly be in line with the other models: single electric motor on the rear axle with a medium-sized battery, to then move on to more powerful models thanks to the double motor and the 77 battery kWh . Everything will be topped off with an aerodynamic line, not for nothing the nickname of ID.Aero, so as to improve the mileage which is currently estimated at 619 km in the WLTP cycle.
