Scheduled for June 30, 2023 , the fifth film in the Indiana Jones series will mark, after fifteen years, the return of Harrison Ford in his famous role with hat and whip. An official synopsis for the film hasn't been released yet, but the studio has confirmed some details, including the cast. Also joining Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”), Antonio Banderas (“Pain and Glory”), John Rhys-Davies (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”), Shaunette Renee Wilson (“Black Panther”) , Thomas Kretschmann (“Das Boot”), Toby Jones (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”), Boyd Holbrook (“Logan”), Oliver Richters (“Black Widow”), Ethann Isidore (“Mortel”) and Mads Mikkelsen ( Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore). James Mangold directs and the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas as executive producers. It's worth noting that Lucasfilm hasn't specifically stated that the fifth Indiana Jones film is the last in the saga, although many leaked elements so far would suggest so, including Ford's revelation that during the intro of the trailer for the film he said “That's it, I won't fall in love with you again! “.
Despite this, there have been rumors that the Indiana Jones franchise could once again expand in a big way on television. It was previously reported that a Disney+ TV series was in the works as a spin-off from the feature films and after some reports revealed that it could star Abner Ravenwood, father of Marion Ravenwood and mentor to Indiana Jones. If the series sees the light, it would mark the continuation of the series so that there is no need for Harrison Ford anymore.
