RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X appears in an online shop

Nvidia is focused on the launch of the new RTX 4000 GPUs, which will debut on the market next October 12th, but despite this it seems it has not given up on some additional variant of RTX 30, in the form of an additional GeForce RTX 3060 Ti slightly more powerful than the model launched in 2020. This GPU, so far known only through rumors, has been in the works for some time now and would boast the use of GDDR6X memories, instead of the GDDR6 present on the model on the market.

The updated GeForce RTX 3060 Ti would be based on the GA103 graphics processor, which maintains all the previous specifications of the GA104 that instead equips the 2020 version, namely 4864 CUDA core, 152 Tensor core and 38 Ray Tracing core. The 1670 MHz boost clock would be only 5 MHz higher than the initial model's 1665 MHz, while the aforementioned support for faster GDDR6X VRAMs offers 19 Gbps bandwidth and 608 GB / s total bandwidth. The use of GDDR6X modules implies a slight increase in consumption, due to their greater demand for energy.

It will all depend of course from the price: the basic Arc A770 is on sale for 349 dollars, while the 16GB Limited Edition version has a price of 369 dollars, the Arc A750 finally costs 289 dollars. Nvidia will therefore have to try to maintain similar prices if it really wants to return to compete in the cheaper range and put a spoke in the wheel for Intel.
