The Sandman's visual effects supervisor Ian Markiewicz said the creators of the Netflix TV series say they are "cautiously optimistic" about a possible renewal for a second season. The series, we remember, is based on the acclaimed Neil Gaiman comics published from 1989 to 1996, and follows Dream / Morpheus as he tries to restore order to his kingdom after years of imprisonment in the real world.

Is The Sandman 2 going to be done?
We are all cautiously optimistic. I don't think Allan knows more [about the possible renewal]. I think, at this point, the show hasn't disappointed. We are quite confident, we also understand that there are many things to keep in mind before the decision is made. We are trying to be enthusiastic but respectful of that process. We want to be able to do our best, and we hope the series goes on, we hope we can do it again. If there is renewal, we want to be in a place where we can use the time available in the best possible way. We also enjoy each other's company, and it's a fun thing, so it wouldn't be a big deal when it comes to work. It's like we can be together, talking about something we're excited about. So the hope is to know as soon as possible what the decision has been made, but at this point everything is still to be seen.
