The opening of Supercharger stations also to electric cars of other car manufacturers is part of a pilot project that US Tesla has been working on for several years now. The first project was, in fact, started last November, in the Netherlands, and was then extended to countries such as France and Norway.
The decision to open the Supercharers to any car is a strategy that is slowly affecting different locations, allowing electric vehicle owners to also access the Tesla charging network in a practical and simple way. However, opening Superchargers allows the company to increase revenue.
Although this initiative will facilitate the recharging of new electric vehicles, the Elon Musk car manufacturer has decided to adopt a progressive opening strategy, thus making only certain recharging points available in the area accessible. In fact, according to what was widely known, Tesla wants to make free access to its superchargers also for cars of other car brands but, at the same time, aims to test the effective efficiency of this strategy. Not surprisingly, free access to Tesla charging points could lead to network congestion and consequent discontent among the brand's customers; which is why Musk has decided to start the project only in some of its Superchargers in Iceland.
Although we have no official news about it, it is not excluded that the project may, in the coming months, also be extended to Italy.
