The info in question was disseminated by the insider MEGAsizeGPU and re-shared by Videocardz. The RTX 4080 should, specifically, offer 12 GB or 16 GB of GDDR6X VRAM, the number of layers of the PCB also differs: 10 for the first variant and 12 for the second. Knowing Nvidia, however, the RTX 4080 that the insider talks about may not concern the same exact model of video card, the Californian company tends to work on more models, as happened for the RTX 3080 listed with 10 GB, 12 GB, 16 GB and also 20 GB of video memory.
The RTX 4080 is expected to be based on the AD103 graphics processor, which includes up to 9728 CUDA cores, along with a memory bus of 256 or 192 bits and a speed for the 23 Gbps VRAM modules. The TBP of the card is up to 340 W, precisely in relation to the latter data, the company has recently taken steps to review the consumption of the new GPUs and seek the right balance with the operating frequencies.
