Dacia Spring and Toyota Aygo X at Green NCAP ecological tests

The most recent results of the Green NCAP tests have been published a few days ago: similarly to what is done for the road safety aspect with the Euro NCAP tests, these tests are designed to accurately measure the energy efficiency of new cars. on the market, detecting polluting emissions from the exhaust pipe, but not only. The protagonists of the most recent test phase were two cars that we have seen spread rapidly on the Italian market in recent months: the Toyota Aygo X and the 100% electric Dacia Spring.

On the road and in the laboratory, with variable loads and in different atmospheric climates, the Green NCAP tests trying to evaluate the capabilities of the new cars in different areas of use to understand if consumption and performance remain sufficiently constant; the final evaluation also includes scores related to the method of extraction and refinement of the fuel used by the cars involved.

3 stars instead for the Toyota Aygo X, which cannot boast an electric powertrain but it is powered by a small aspirated petrol engine: in this case, CO2 emissions are detected that range from 116 g / km of the laboratory test, to 181 g / km of use on the highway, plus there is the 30 g / km of upstream emissions deriving from the production of petrol must be added. The range is around 640 km, with fuel consumption varying greatly according to the driving style adopted - although this is valid for all cars, including electric ones.
