Rion Kujo (Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero, s-CRY-ed ) is directing the anime at LIDEN FILMS. Kana Konishi and Yukio Kondо̄ from MOKA ☆ are composing the music. Tohokushinsha is in charge of sound production while Pony Canyon is in charge of music production. WOWMAX is producing the anime.Here is the synopsis:
Touka is just an average (slightly perverted) farmer in the village of Cheza. While he daydreams about being a hero and conquering the girl, the true hero, Zion, is out fighting the demons that threaten to invade the world! But one day, Touka accidentally kills the hero ... ?! With the legendary hero dead, who will save the world now ?! Touka quickly buries Sion's body to hide the evidence, but wakes up the next day to find she is no longer in his body!

The series is written and designed by Subaruichi and was serialized from 9 December 2014 to 7 December 2020 in the Ura Sunday magazine published by Shōgakukan. The series entered the final arc on December 6, 2020 and the various chapters were collected in twenty tankōbon volumes from May 12, 2015 to March 18, 2021. A spin-off titled Yūsha ga Shinda! Kami no Kun-hen debuted in May.In Italy it was published from 21 June 2017 to 27 October 2021 by J-POP.
