The prequel film that will tell the dawn of the Hunger Games story is coming. A golden snake and nightingale that awaken from an icy torpor and immediately begin to collide: that's what you see in the first animated teaser of The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Also based on a novel by Suzanne Collins, in Italian published by Mondadori and translated as Ballad of the nightingale and the snake, this film tells the events relating to a young Coriolanus Snow, decades before the adventures lived by Katniss Everdeen interpreted by Jennifer Lawrence. The games wanted by the company of Panem have reached their tenth edition but the balance of power, as symbolized by the two animals, are still evolving:

The young Coriolanus Snow, in fact, finds himself the last representative of an important family that has fallen from grace, who sees the possibility of redeeming himself in the upcoming Hunger Games. He is in fact assigned a young girl-tribute, Lucy Gray Baird, coming from the very poor District 12: when the girl manages to attract the attention of all Panem by performing a song during the "harvest" ceremony, the two form a strange alliance, combining her taste for theatricality and his political cunning. Political interests, however, and the will to assert themselves at any cost will reveal, even between the two of them, who is really a nightingale and who is a snake.
The Lionsgate film company announced its intention to devote itself to a new Hunger Games project last April during CinemaCon: the date set for the debut is November 17, 2023 and the film will be directed once again by Francis Lawrence, who had also signed the original trilogy. While the main details of the plot and realization are still shrouded in mystery, the main protagonists have been announced in recent weeks: Tom Blyth, seen in series as Billy the Kid and The Gilded Age, will be Coriolanus while Rachel will play Lucy Gray Baird. Zegler, rising star who made his debut in Spielberg's West Side Story and will soon be in Shazam too! Fury of the Gods and Disney's live-action Snow White.
