The well-known leaker @yuuki_ans shared some very interesting benchmarks related to the Intel Xeon Platinum 8470 CPU, Sapphire Rapids series, giving us the opportunity to compare the results obtained with those of one of its main opponents: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X. Obviously, we would like to point out that this is unofficial information; therefore, the scores may not be completely reliable.
We remind you that Sapphire Rapids processors will be based on the Golden Cove architecture built on the Intel 7 process. Additionally, the chips support Intel Advanced Matrix eXtensions (AMX) to improve performance in training and inference workloads. The chips are equipped with up to 64GB of HBM2e memory, eight channels of DDR5, PCIe 5.0 and integrate support for Optane and CXL 1.1 memory.

The Xeon Platinum 8470 model, in particular, it will have 52 cores and 104 threads and, according to the CPU-Z screen, will have a maximum frequency of 3.8GHz. As for the benchmarks, the chip scored 29,344 points, 17% compared to the 25,082 of the Threadripper 3990X, while in Cinebench R23 it managed to score 79,150 points, compared to 74,422 of the Threadripper 3990X (+ 6.3%). But surely the most important gap was found in CPU-Z, where, with its 55,000 points, the Xeon Platinum 8470 notably outperformed the Threadripper 3990X, which stopped at 32,215 points. In the table below you can take a quicker look at the results obtained, where a certain supremacy on the part of the Intel chip is highlighted.
