CRPG and lots of free time

So many projects in the video game industry may be considered insane, but Chester Bolingbroke's probably has no equal. Bolingbroke has in fact spent the last 12 years of his life playing and reviewing every single CRPG that debuted on the market, strictly in chronological order, describing the experience on a blog.

Let's go with order: Chester Bolingbroke does not exist or rather, it exists but it is not his real name. In fact, the man prefers to adopt a pseudonym to avoid being recognized. At the time of the opening of the blog he was about 40 years old, he is married to a very patient wife (Irene) and has dedicated his life to teaching him in college. In 2010 he opened The CRPG Addict, a blog where he reviews and talks about his experiences with all the games belonging to the Computer RPG genre. A complex project, which goes on and every year is enriched with many new articles.| ); }
At the time of writing, The CRPG Addict has over 456 tested games. Of this long list, 370 have been finished (and 45 have not), 37 instead cannot be finished and only 3 are still “in progress”. All these experiences have been turned into real reviews. Judging by the amount of titles belonging to the genre published since the dawn of computer games, the work will still be long. The first episode of the Halo TV series is free on YouTube

The Halo TV series, a show with no vibes, has had its first episode uploaded in full on the Paramount+ YouTube channel.

It's a pretty sharp promotional move reminiscent of the most generous demos and free weekends in gaming. I certainly don't know anyone with a Paramount+ subscription, and wrangling with another streaming app free trial is a big ask if you don't even know you'll enjoy the programming on offer.

Now though, you have nothing to lose but 58 minutes and 56 seconds of your precious free time. Tune in for a sort of Lone Wolf and Cub side plot and a reveal 21 years in the making: the Master Chief removing his helmet to reveal he is this man.

I appreciate the move here from Paramount, and hope to see more like it in the future. We're facing a veritable deluge of videogame streaming adaptations down the pike, with projects based on Fallout, Dungeons & Dragons, Bioshock, and more all in production or pre-production.

It's looking like there'll be a lot of videogame-based streaming shows vying for our money and attention, and association with a beloved property isn't necessarily a guarantee of quality. Making a one-off freebie episode available on YouTube seems like a must to stand out in this crowded field.
