Intel Core i9-12950HX

The new Intel Core i9-12950HX, i7-12850HX and i5-12600HX CPUs, from the Alder Lake-HX range intended for high-end laptops, have recently appeared on Geekbench 5 along with the relative benchmarks. All three models were discovered inside a Lenovo 20MWMMMMCC, equipped with 128GB of DDR5 RAM.

Alder Lake-HX The new Alder Lake-HX models obviously make use of the BGA packaging, however, multiple sources report that the die used is actually the same as the desktop models, but with optimized voltages, so as to be able to take full advantage of its power while maintaining high energy efficiency. The Core i9-12950HX and i7-12850HX will both offer more cores and threads than the current i9-12900HK, with a 14% and 20% increase respectively.

Alder Lake-HX Core i5-12600HX is instead equipped with 12 cores and 16 threads, keeping the configuration of the current i5-12600H, but increasing the clock speeds to 2.8GHz for as regards the base frequency and 4.6 GHz in boost on all cores, while the same L3 cache of 18MB remains.

Manufacturers will further optimize their laptops for the new Alder Lake-HX range, so it is safe to expect better performance in the definitive models of the new CPUs. The launch of these new processors is expected to take place in the months of May or June, but there is still no official information from Intel about it.
