AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX outperforms everyone in one benchmark

About a week ago, AMD officially announced its new Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX series processors, designed for workstations and direct rivals of the Intel Xeon W. The powerful CPUs are proposed to System Integrators and OEMs, but at the moment we do not know if they will also reach the retail market. Spec-wise, the new processors are based on the Zen 3 architecture, offering an IPC-level improvement of 19% over the previous generation Threadripper Pro, which still used Zen 2 cores. For now, the series consists of five models, ranging from the Threadripper Pro 5945WX, with 12 cores and 24 threads, to the Threadripper Pro 5995WX, equipped with 64 cores and 128 threads. It was recently the subject of a test in the PassMark benchmark, as identified by a Reddit user, where it managed to outperform (and not even slightly) all the other processors in the database. In fact, AMD's Threadripper Pro 5995WX scored 108,882 points, destroying the previous record held by the EPYC 7763 by 23%. When compared to its direct predecessor, the Threadripper Pro 3995WX, the new chip offers 28% higher performance.

We remind you that the new Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX should be compatible with sWRX80 and WRX80 sockets via a BIOS update, but unfortunately they will not support DDR5 or PCIe 5.0 memory, being limited to 128 lanes PCIe 4.0 and 8 channels of DDR4-3200 memory, as they are based on Zen 3 cores. The processors will be available on Lenovo workstations, which AMD has partnered with, starting March 21st.
