New World, now fishing and shopping is illegal

New World

It seems not all is going well on New World. From the bots that Amazon is trying to push away and that have infested the game servers, thus making it impossible for normal people to be able to access the servers to obviously the controversy over bans. Even today, however, the criticism does not stop, especially since fishing and shopping in the new MMORPG are two activities that, it seems, have been declared as illegal, resulting in the removal of players from the servers.

Irony, of course . But the fact is still very curious. In New World, it seems, several players who result AFK (i.e. away from the keyboard) while waiting to choose an item to buy or for a fish to bite. This result is due to the fact that the system intercepts the pressure of the letters W, A, S and D, which are equivalent to those directions that the player can take within the game world. Unfortunately, clicking with the mouse is not the same as satisfying the system's requests and that is why so many players have been warned and many of them, unfortunately, turned away in the middle of a certain activity, as happened to a Reddit user.

“I usually spend a lot of time trading my items, looking at prices and buying. It is one of my favorite parts of the game and before the last update I was spending a lot of time in the area dedicated to this activity. Right now I was banned from the game for being 'AFK', even though I was using the mouse ", reads the post launched on the popular Internet board.

In addition to trading, also secondary activities such as fishing example lead to the expulsion of the player on New World. A real problem, which we hope Amazon Games can solve as soon as possible by counting how much these two elements are fundamental in order to continue in their adventures.

A ‘New World’ Update On When Server Transfer Is Finally Coming

New World

Amazon

Since New World launched a few weeks ago, Amazon said that its top priority was going to be rolling out a server transfer feature that would allow players to hop into other worlds rather than being locked into the first one they chose.

Well, it’s been a long while, and we’re just not finally getting an update on when that feature should hit. According to a new blog post, Amazon said that despite it being ready to go, they decided to hold it until next week, when it should finally drop:

“We have the final pieces of the server transfer system tested and ready to go, but we are making a difficult decision to hold it until next week. This was a balance call between honoring a date we told you to expect, versus the disruption of a deployment during a peak play period (the weekend).

We’ve worked on this feature non-stop every day to make good on our date estimations, but releasing it now would mean downtime, server balance changing based on transfers, Wars that might not go through due to different rosters, and the like.

You can expect several communications coming from our team in the near future, including more specific details around how we are rolling out the transfer feature and a deep dive into the lessons we learned these past couple weeks.”

Amazon

A main problem with the upcoming server transfer feature is that it goes back on what Amazon originally said, that players would be able to transfer between world regions, but now that’s not the case, and you can only transfer within your region, NA East, NA West, etc. This is a big problem considering that’s the gulf that separates many groups, but there’s no word on if someday, that could happen. We also don’t know details about how exactly server transfer is going to work.

Personally, as someone who doesn’t play MMOs, I’ve found it hard to deal with this aspect of New World, as I simply picked the first server that was open. Now I have a dozen friends playing across various servers frequently, and yet I can’t play with any of them. Now, this new feature may let me pick a handful of them, but then I’ll also be leaving the company I’ve worked with the last three weeks behind. I’m a lot more used to 99% of other games where you simply hop on and play with friends if they own the game, and lately, that’s become easier than ever with cross-play available for most major games. This locked server world model for MMOs feels archaic by comparison to me, but I suppose it simply comes with the territory.

In any case, this server transfer feature should finally hit during the week next week, and will likely get here before Friday, because they don’t want to do it during the highest volume part of the week. Hopefully it goes smoothly, but we’ll have to see.
