Spider-Man
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios can already expect a great success with Spider-Man: No Way Home. The long-awaited trailer for the film starring Tom Holland was released on Tuesday. And within just 24 hours, the video has already set impressive records on the Internet. No trailer in this short time has been clicked as often as the first look at Spider-Man: No Way Home. The video was viewed 355.5 million times. The previous record of Avengers Endgame was thus more than clearly exceeded. The superhero finale reached around 289 million clicks in the 24 hours after its release. Endgame then grossed $ 2.78 billion at the box office. However, Spider-Man: No Way Home will not achieve similar numbers - among other things because the cinema situation is still problematic due to the pandemic.

Into The Spider-Verse Producer Shares A+ Response To Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer

Everyone is talking about the opening of the multiverse for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the upcoming movie Spider-Man: No Way Home following the jaw-dropping trailer that came out Monday. In the first look at the third MCU Spider-Man movie, a spell cast by Doctor Strange goes awry and Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus returns for the first time since 2004’s Spider-Man 2, along with other villain teases. Many fans believe it is setting up a live-action Spider-Verse that could involve Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield… and the same idea another movie once had.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is highly regarded by Spidey fans, topping many lists of favorite films starring the hero since the animated movie came out in 2018. As the internet talks through what could be in store in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Christopher Miller, who produced Into The Spider-Verse with writer/director Phil Lord, shared a great response to the live-action Spider-Verse potentially coming to fruition.
In light of the trailer talk, Christopher Miller dug up a super wild fact about the making of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. He and Phil Lord actually pitched to Sony to involve Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in their film, but the studio shut it down, calling it “too soon” to explore the idea. As Miller quipped, it doesn’t seem to be “too soon” now that the internet is in a tailspin over the idea, whether or not that actually happens on the big screen this holiday season.
We should put some credit where credit is due here. Christopher Miller and Phil Lord had a massive idea when Into the Spider-Verse was in the works. It was so big that it has dominated fan conversation since we’ve caught wind that Tom Holland's Peter Parker will be delving into multiversal craziness with Doctor Strange. Fans really love Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Spider-Man even if their movies ended dismally.
And since it didn’t happen in an animated version, could it in Spider-Man: No Way Home? It would be a shame if Sony spun out Lord and Miller’s idea for the live-action space, but we’d definitely love to see Maguire and Garfield’s faces lock with Holland’s Spidey on the big screen too. You can see how Maguire could have fit in the place of Jake Johnson’s character, or perhaps in addition to his introduction given the vast amount of Spider-People in Into the Spider-Verse.
The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer brings back Doc Ock, who allegedly died at the end of Spider-Man 2, along with teases for Green Goblin, Electro and Sandman invading Peter Parker’s world, along with some fans thinking they also saw Daredevil. I guess we’ll have to see when the movie comes out to theaters on December 17.
