It is known that in Japan thematic cafes dedicated to anime, manga and video game franchises are popping up like mushrooms in various cities of the country, but this is perhaps the first time that the center of attention is none other than Harry Potter, one of the most popular magical sagas of all time for both children and adults. A timeless saga that this year celebrates the 20th anniversary of the first film adaptation of the franchise, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
To celebrate then, two Harry Potter Cafés will open in Japan, one in the trendy district of Harajuku in Tokyo and the other in the otaku-friendly district of Sakae in Nagoya. The menu, of course, is filled with food and drinks inspired by the Harry Potter franchise and its spin-off series Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Let's take a closer look at the wonders these Cafés have to offer!
Each House has its own personalized bento (boxed lunch)! Specifically, the Gryffindor sandwich contains strawberry cream, in line with the Japanese love of fruit sandwiches.
Each bento is priced at 1,800 yen (13.79 euros ), but for another 1,000 yen you can also take home the bento corresponding to your home.
Of course, every good lunch that respects itself has a dessert and among the most gluttonous ones there is the Golden Snitch Parfait, the majestic shepherd's cake with the Hogwarts crest and recreation of the nicely misspelled birthday cake that Hagrid made for Harry.
As for Fantastic Creatures and where to find them there is the Magic Suitcase Cake and the Niffler Orange Cake and, of course, there could not be a dessert dedicated to the Train, called Hogwarts Express Caffe Latte.
Among the other items on the Menu we find the plate of snacks from the Post of Owls and the Herbology class salad:
All the drinks are of great visual impact in particular the sparkling smoothies of the four houses, also available to take away.
As is often the case with thematic cafes in Japan, reservations are required, and involve a seat fee of 650 yen per person, although this gives away a multipurpose briefcase in the likeness of Harry, Hermione, Ron, Severus, or Dumbledore.
The Harry Potter Cafe Tokyo will be open from 22 July to September 12, while the dates of Nagoya are from July 23 to August 22.
