Netflix has announced a new podcast inspired by the backstory of Robin Buckley, star of Stranger Things, played by Maya Ray Thurman Hawke.This news comes in conjunction with the announcement that Stranger Things season 4 will see four new cast members. Amybeth McNulty (Call Me Anna) is expected as Vickie, Myles Truitt (Queen Sugar, Black Mafia Family) as Patrick, a talented Hawkins basketball star much loved by her friends, Regina Ting Chen (Queen of the Sud, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier) will play Ms. Kelly, a guidance counselor who cares about her students and, finally, Grace Van Dien (Charlie Says, The Village) will play Chrissy, cheerleader captain and girl school's most popular.
Stranger Things: The New Podcast
The podcast is titled Rebel Robin: Surviving Hawkins and is written and directed by Lauren Shippen. It will be split into 6 parts and will feature Hawke and Sean Maher (the voice of Nightwing in Firefly).Official synopsis of Rebel Robin: Surviving Hawkins reads,
Favorite teacher of Robin, Mr. Hauser, offers her his class if ever she needs a quiet place to have lunch away from the stress of school. Over the next few months, Robin and Hauser meet regularly to discuss philosophy, books, friendship, independence, and Tom Cruise's disturbing number of films in 1983. A coming-of-age story about the struggle to be different in a small town, Surviving Hawkins explores how learning to be ourselves is truly the bravest thing we can do, because it brings out the scariest monster of all: other people's judgment.
The new podcast will debut on June 29, with new episodes in a weekly preview.
A new accompanying Robin novel written by A.R. will be released on the same day. Capetta. The book, titled Rebel Robin, will give fans an insight into Robin's life before she met Steve Harrington in the third season of Stranger Things, and will follow the Hawkins High School student as she tries to raise enough money to travel to Europe to summer.

‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Adds Four Recurring Cast Members

“Stranger Things” Season 4 is continuing to build out its cast with the addition of four new recurring stars.
The hit Netflix series has cast Amybeth McNulty (“Anne with an E”), Myles Truitt (“Queen Sugar”), Regina Ting Chen (“Queen of the South”), and Grace Van Dien (“The Village”). The new season is currently in production in Atlanta.
McNulty will play Vickie, a cool, fast-talking band nerd who catches the eye of one of our beloved heroes. She is repped by Silver Lining Entertainment and Lisa Richards Agency.
Truitt will play Patrick, a Hawkins basketball star who has friends, talent, and a good life, until shocking events send his life spiraling out of control. He is repped by UTA.
Ting Chen will play Ms. Kelly, a popular guidance counselor who cares deeply for her students—especially those struggling the most. She is repped by Atlanta Models and Talent.
Van Dien will play Chrissy, Hawkins’ High lead cheerleader and the most popular girl in school. But beneath the seemingly perfect surface lies a dark secret. She is repped by LINK Entertainment and Innovative Artists.
The four new additions join series leads Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Joe Keery. Priah Ferguson was also upped to series regular status on the show for Season 4. In September, it was announced that eight others had joined the cast this season, including horror legend Robert Englund.
“Stranger Things” was created by The Duffer Brothers and is produced by Monkey Massacre Productions & 21 Laps Entertainment. The Duffer Brothers serve as executive producers on the series alongside Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps Entertainment as well as Iain Paterson.
