Star Wars Day: Impressive artwork combines many characters

Star Wars Day

This year's Star Wars Day will take place on May 4, 2021. This is a kind of holiday for all fans worldwide to celebrate the great space saga of George Lucas. According to the motto "May the 4th be with you" there will be the corresponding celebrations this year as well. Disney and Lucasfilm have already published the official artwork for the event in advance, which of course we don't want to withhold from you.

You can see numerous characters on the very detailed picture that can be found on the Star Wars Twitter channel from the big films. Among other things, you'll see Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo and Imperator Palpatine - mainly characters from the first six episodes of the great film saga. But if you take a closer look, you will also discover characters that were not seen in this film, but in other offshoots. For example, Ahsoka Tano, who recently appeared in the second season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and will soon have its own series, is honored. To the right of the picture is a group of five who could be the Clone Warriors from the new Star Wars: The Bad Batch animated series that will air on Disney + in May 2021. Noticeable: characters from the sequel trilogy are missing, so Rey or Kylo Ren are not shown.

Incidentally, Disney and Lucasfilm announced a big sales campaign for several coimputer and video games from the Star Wars universe on the official website, about which we will soon be reporting to you in a separate message. It is already certain that this will save you a lot of money.

Nobody does synergy better (or at least more) than Disney. On May 4, ESPN will air a special 'Star Wars'-themed MLB broadcast of a game between the New York Yankees and Houston Astros.

For the MLB fans who are not also fans of a galaxy far, far away, that date is known as 'Star Wars Day' because of the wordplay of 'May the Fourth' that sounds very similar to 'May the force be with you,' a well-known phrase in 'Star Wars' lore.

For the broadcast, ESPN will have its on-air commentators dressed in full costumes: Karl Ravech (play-by-play) as Luke Skywalker, Tim Kurkjian (analyst) as Yoda and Eduardo Perez (analyst) as Poe Dameron. Ravech and Kurkjian will be in ESPN's Bristol, Conn., studios, while Perez will be at his home in Miami.

Reporter Marly Rivera will report from Yankee Stadium to capture anything being done in-stadium to celebrate 'Star Wars,' and the broadcast will also feature custom animation and graphics.

'Star Wars' is not the only Disney-owned entertainment property that ESPN is partnering with next week. The network is also teaming up with Marvel for a special edition NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Pelicans on May 3 that will feature an 'Avengers'-themed storyline.

Per ESPN, the telecast will 'integrate elements from an original Marvel story and iconic characters including Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Captain America, Black Widow and Doctor Strange throughout the live game, including 3D virtual characters, custom graphics and animation packages.'

Dubbed 'NBA Special Edition Presented by State Farm: Marvel's Arena of Heroes,' the special edition game will be broadcast on ESPN2, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes, with the traditional game telecast on ESPN.
