Smash Bros. Ultimate: Fans think Fighter Pass 2 will have an extra character

Smash Bros. Ultimate

A Reddit user - RiuBert - has proposed an interesting hypothesis related to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the fighting game for Nintendo Switch. As revealed by the player, there may be an extra seventh character within Fighter Pass 2. Here's why he thinks it.

First of all, you need to know that all games, DLCs and bundled products have a unique code (NSUID) on the official Nintendo website. When the first set of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC characters was released, the six characters obtained codes from 70050000008501 to 70050000008506. Next comes the Rex Mii bonus costume, with number 70050000008507.

Now, as far as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighter Pass 2 is concerned, it starts from 70050000018967 (Min Min) and arrives at 70050000018970 (Pyra / Mythra). Numbers ending in '18971' and '18972' are reserved for the two characters not yet announced. This time, however, the bonus costume is reported as 70050000018974. In other words, the ID number ending in '18973' has not been used and is "currently unavailable".

Based on this, the user states that there may be an extra character within Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Fighter Pass 2. The reasoning makes sense, but of course it's just that: speculation. This is not official information and it is not even a leak.

To find out if this is true, we will probably have to wait for Nintendo to reveal what awaits us in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Finally, we would like to point out that "it's not Sakurai's fault if the new characters have a sword".

Rumour: Smash Ultimate Fans Think Fighters Pass Vol. 2 Might Get A Bonus Seventh Character

Could we be getting a bonus fighter as one last surprise?Could we be getting a bonus fighter as one last surprise?

It feels like it's actually been a good long while since we last sat down and mulled over a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate rumour – likely because the majority that find their way to the internet are completely bogus nonsense – but here's one that might just have something going for it.

A Reddit user going by the name of RiuBert has theorised that the game's second batch of DLC, the 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass Vol. 2', could well be getting a bonus seventh character on top of the six slots that have already been promised.

As RiuBert explains in their post, all games, DLCs, and product bundles have a unique code (known as an NSUID) on Nintendo's official website. With the first set of DLC characters, from Piranha Plant to the first Fighters Pass' final addition, Byleth, the DLC codes are ordered chronologically from 70050000008501 to 70050000008506. Following on from that is the bonus Rex Mii costume offered to those who purchase the first Fighters Pass, which ends in '8507'.

(As a heads up, those links will take you to Nintendo's New Zealand site, where NSUID codes are helpfully displayed right within the page's URL).

HereHere's how the second Fighters Pass currently looks...

Now, things get a little more interesting when we look at Fighters Pass Vol. 2. As before, the fighters are listed chronologically (Min Min is 70050000018967, up to Pyra/Mythra at 70050000018970, with '18971' and '18972' reserved for the two unannounced characters). This time, though, the Pass' bonus Ancient Helm + Gear costume reward isn't listed directly afterwards, having an NSUID of 70050000018974, rather than ending with '18973'. Instead, this mysterious '18973' is 'currently unavailable'. Still with us?

It would appear, then, that Nintendo has something still to be announced following the sixth DLC fighter. Immediate, over-excited thoughts jump to a potential seventh fighter, which could well be true, although it could also relate to an echo fighter, another bonus costume, or something else entirely.

What do you think? Is there something in this? Could you see Nintendo pulling out a surprise character to end things with a bang? Let's avoid getting our hopes up too much in the comments below.
