Re: Verse will be released for PC, PlayStation and Xbox. The data required for the test can now be downloaded from Steam, the PS Store and the Xbox Store for a platform of your choice. Participation in the beta is free.Back in January, selected players had the opportunity to take a look at Resident Evil Re: Verse as part of a closed test. In the multiplayer mode you slip into the role of a well-known character in the series. Against five other participants it is your task to stay alive in the deathmatch. If you are caught by an opposing player, you will automatically turn into a monster and then hunt down the remaining participants in the round. The strength of your mutation then depends on how many virus samples you have previously collected as a human.

On May 7, the tenth major installment in the Resident Evil series launches on consoles, PC, and Stadia. Anyone buying Resident Evil Village also gets a second game included for free. It's called Resident Evil Re:Verse, and preloading for the open beta of this online multplayer experience begins today.
As VGC reports, the beta period runs from 2am ET on April 8 to 2am ET on April 11. In order to maximize your play time, though, Capcom is allowing the game to be preloaded on PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X, and PC via Steam. All you need to take part is a Capcom ID and either one of the listed consoles hooked up to the internet or a PC running Steam. If you're a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S owner, you can still play using the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Link your Capcom ID to your hardware and you should be ready to go. Preloading begins at 8pm ET today.
As for gameplay, Capcom explains, 'In Resident Evil Re:Verse you’ll play as iconic Resident Evil characters, including Chris and Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Ada Wong, and Hunk as they clash in multiplayer battles across memorable Resident Evil locations. Take down opposing players with your chosen character’s unique weapons and skills to earn points, and string together takedowns to build up your point score – but beware that you’ll have a target on your back as a result! Being defeated in combat is not the end, however. Whenever you’re taken down, you’ll rise up again as a bioweapon with powerful new abilities. Based on how many vials of virus samples you managed to collect in human form, you’ll transform into some of the Resident Evil franchise’s most memorable enemies.'
Recommended by Our EditorsThe open beta is free to download and play, and should give anyone preparing to buy Resident Evil Village a good idea of whether they want to keep playing Re:Verse after launch, or stick to the single-player Village experience instead.
