Baldur's Gate
Julius Borisov, community and social media manager of the developer studio Beamdog, explained in the forum that the studio wants to set up something of its own as the next project.A new game from ex-Bioware developers
Beamdog is best known for the release of the Enhanced Editions of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights, as well as the role-playing game Baldur's Gate (buy now): Siege of Dragonspear, which bridges the gap between BG 1 and 2 fills. Now another game is being created at the studio, but it is neither an improved version of a well-known title nor is it based on a well-known brand. "Although the door has not yet been completely closed for further remasters, Beamdog is currently working on a new game, its own IP," writes Julius Borisov. "No details have been released yet."It is not clear whether this is an RPG. Still, it would be logical, as Beamdog consists of former Bioware employees, including Trent Oster, and the previous titles - with the exception of Axis and Allies 1942 Online - were RPG projects. It is unlikely that the Infinity engine from the earlier Bioware role-playing games will be used again. It's just not modern enough anymore. But what is possible: The new game could perhaps be based on the gameplay and structure of the earlier D&D role-playing games. So an RPG with a focus on story, interesting NPCs and a deeply worked out game world.
When we will learn more about this new game from Beamdog is not yet clear. We will have to be patient a little longer.
