STALKER. 2
STALKER. 2 is shown in advance of the Xbox Indie Showcase scheduled for this afternoon, as on the other hand we had already known from GSC Game World, with a video diary of the developers that shows something on the status of the work and in particular on the construction of the characters and of weapons. This is really just a hint of STALKER 2 which contains practically nothing of the gameplay, but it is interesting for all those who have been waiting for a long time for the new chapter of the particular FPS-RPG with a post-apocalyptic setting.
In a video of over 6 minutes, Zakhar Bocharov of GSC Game World shows us something about the development of STALKER 2, also on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of the first chapter which coincided with March 23, 2021. The team had already clarified what it would show on the occasion of today's Xbox Indie Showcase, namely that there would not be a new gameplay video, however some glimpses of the game are still visible in this video diary.
In particular, we see the polygonal models for some characters, that is standard fighters for the two opposing factions of the Duty and the Freedom, who have opposite views on the management of the Zone and for this reason they constantly clash. The models appear decidedly detailed in the classic style of the series, that is with a mixture of futuristic but above all "vintage" elements, both as regards the equipment and the weapons.
The weapons are also shown in more detail, suggesting a certain variety of fire solutions and possible customizations for each type. Finally, a special mention should be made for the creation of the faces: as visible in the final part of the video, GDC Game World has elaborated very accurately the appearance of the characters, allowing players to even modify their teeth with a special menu.
Di S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 we saw the first gameplay trailer at the end of last year, while recently new details have emerged about the Zone, single player and mods on the Xbox Series X | S. We remind you that the game in question is exclusive to PC and Xbox Series X | S, from day one on Xbox Game Pass.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 takes us back to the Wasteland, in the next gen version
The Stalker 2 devs are using a custom teeth tool to make each character's smile unique
The Stalker 2 developers are using a custom teeth tool to make each character's smile unique.
In a new video showing off some of the detailed character and weapon models in Stalker 2, GSC Game World's Zakhar Bocharov said the developers are using a custom tool to remove teeth, or replace teeth with variants such as dental crowns.
This custom teeth tool ensures each character looks completely unique. 'Literally every human in Stalker 2 has a one-of-a-kind smile - or grin, I suppose,' Bocharov said.
It's an impressive level of detail for a game we've yet to see gameplay for. In July 2020, GSC Game World released a target render trailer that hit the headlines. That's below:
Then, in December, GSC Game World released an engine-focused trailer showing off Stalker 2's tech:
There's no release date for Stalker 2 yet, but we do know it's set for PC and will be 'a console launch exclusive' on Xbox Series X and part of the Xbox Game Pass service from launch.
