The third season of The Boys is in development and, according to reports from Variety, will see the participation of some showrunners who have worked for another iconic TV show, Supernatural. In addition to series creator and showrunner Eric Kripke, creator of Supernatural, The Boys will bring three alumni of the hit series produced by CW, in fact Meredith Glynn and David Reed will be executive producers in the new season, with Jim Michaels as co-executive producer.
Glynn co-executive produced and wrote the scripts for Supernatural from 2016 until its final season in 2020. Reed was the screenwriter and screenplay coordinator for the series from 2009 to 2012, and Michaels worked on series as producer and co-executive producer from 2009 to 2020. Also, on the other side of the camera, we see another familiar face of Supernatural, Dean Winchester actor Jensen Ackles who will play Soldier Boy.
“I think anyone who expects Jensen to be presented as a good guy will be disappointed. I will tell! [Laughs], "Kripke told Variety in an interview last year. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played John Winchester on Supernatural, has also expressed a desire to join The Boys, but Kripke has revealed that his role in The Walking Dead complicates matters slightly. Although Kripke has never hidden his desire to have the actor in the cast of the original Amazon TV series.
Based on the New York Times best-selling comic created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys was developed by Eric Kripke (Supernatural), also author and executive producer of the series. Alongside him, executive producers Seth Rogen (Preacher), Evan Goldberg (Preacher), James Weaver (Preacher) of Point Gray Pictures, Neal H. Moritz (Prison Break) and Pavun Shetty (New Girl) of Original Film, as well as Phil Sgriccia, Craig Rosenberg, Rebecca Sonnenshine, Ken Levin and Jason Netter.
