DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 2 comes out tomorrow, the new trailer is explosive

DOOM Eternal

Bethesda and id Software have confirmed that DOOM Eternal's new DLC, The Ancient Gods Part 2, will be released on March 18 on all platforms. For the occasion, a very violent trailer has been released that sends players back to the bowels of hell.

The Ancient Gods Part 2 will close the narrative arc started with the previous DLC and will present not only new demons to defeat but also new weapons and a number of new explorable areas. The DOOM Slayer epic comes to an end with the second extra content that arrives, as promised, in the first year of the game, released on March 19, 2020.

New worlds

Take on the armies of hell in places never seen before. Explore the ruins of ancient Sentinel settlements, the cosmic wonders of the Spear of the World, and the overgrown ruins of a terrestrial city that hide a mysterious portal, and reach Immora, the last bastion of the Dark Lord defended by gigantic walls and advanced technologies.

New Challenges

Prepare to fight deadly new demon variants, including the mighty Armored Baron, the mighty Stone Imp, the venomous Cursed Predator and the Zombie screamer, which empowers nearby enemies when killed.

The Ancient Gods Part 2 will be available (as well as DOOM Eternal) on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, the game is compatible with PS5, Google Stadia and Xbox Series X / S, the next-gen update is expected during the year, at the moment id Software has not revealed further details on the matter. The new DLC is included in the Year 1 Pass and in the DOOM Eternal Deluxe Edition and can also be purchased individually.

Hell yeah! Doom Eternal’s next and final expansion, The Ancient Gods - Part 2, will come out tomorrow, developer iD Software announced today.

The expansion, which picks up after last fall’s first chapter—The Ancient Gods - Part 1—appears inspired far more by typical fantasy than by the science-fiction that characterizes the main game. Many of the environments look straight out of Skyrim. Monsters pour out of Endgame-style portals. C’mon, DoomGuy literally rides a dragon at one point.

Earlier this week, Bethesda—Doom Eternal’s publisher—teased a full trailer and a release date. Last year, the company announced The Ancient Gods - Part 1 at Gamescom, nearly two months before release. In light of that, today’s “out tomorrow!” announcement comes as a pleasant surprise.

I’ve personally been holding off on The Ancient Gods until both chapters were available. (No spoilers, please!) There’s a narrative element to these two campaigns, picking up directly after the events of the main game, and I’m not one for cliffhangers. Plus, in the fall, there were roughly eight gazillion different games on my backlog. The release calendar is in somewhat of a different state right now, so I, for one, am looking forward for a solid reason to jump back into one of last year’s best shooters.
