This week Microsoft announced the acquisition of Bethesda and celebrated the wedding with a panel discussion broadcast on Thursday 11 March, which also revealed details on the future of the Bethesda-branded exclusives.
The focus of the acquisition is obviously the Game Pass, but this does not mean that the company's games will not arrive on other platforms:
"I can't sit here and say that every Bethesda game will be Xbox exclusive because we know it won't, there are contractual agreements that we must respect as we always do in these cases with our partners. There are Bethesda and Zenimax games published on other platforms and we will continue to support them. There are communities of players and we love them, we will continue to invest in this aspect too. in the future there may be games linked to contractual ties with others or ties that we will go to support and deepen. If you are an Xbox player, we will offer you fantastic lobsters exclusive games on the platforms hosting Game Pass and this is our goal, that's why we are doing it. This is the nature of the partnership we are building with Bethesda, and the creative force we are able to unleash for Xbox players will be the best ever when we reach our goal. "
Important statements that must not be misrepresented: exclusivity agreements will continue to exist (as in the case of Ghostwire Tokyo and Deathloop, both released this year on PC and exclusive PlayStation 5 console) and new ones will continue to exist multiplatform games, at the same time, however, there will be exclusives related to the Game Pass and therefore playable on Xbox, PC and Android (and soon iPhone and iPad), however, in no case has there been any mention of the arrival of the service on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. In all likelihood we will proceed "case by case" and each decision will be made from time to time based on the individual products, as already stated by Spencer himself last September.
