For some time there has been talk of a Sony increasingly projected towards western markets with the PlayStation brand, to the detriment of Japan. But is it really so? CEO Jim Ryan, interviewed by Famitsu, tries to clarify this issue. The CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment reiterates how the link between PlayStation and Japanese games and developers is very strong and there are no valid reasons to think the opposite:
"I am delighted that the games we have released under the PlayStation Studios label are released by our studios. Sony Interactive Entertainment has a great tradition with Japanese brands and licenses and we will continue to strengthen this bond in the future. continue to develop Japanese-style games for PlayStation players around the world. "
Jim Ryan cites Astro's Playroom as an example of a PS5 game produced in Japan and states that other titles developed in the country of Levante will be announced later. Finally, the interviewer asks which projects Sony's Japanese studios are working on, but even in this case it will be necessary to wait to find out more, at the moment it is not yet possible to reveal details about it.
PlayStation has not therefore no intention of abandoning the domestic market and the excellent relationship built over the years with the Japanese teams will continue to strengthen even in this generation.
