The Italian Interactive Digital Entertainment Association (IIDEA) has released the questionnaire for the fifth census of Italian development teams, aimed at freelancers, companies and firms operating in the video game sector.
The census questionnaire of the Italian game developers of 2021 aims to analyze the situation of the Italian videogame landscape, identifying its main characteristics and changes compared to the previous census of 2018. The questions will revolve around 15 macro-areas, including for example video games in development, turnover, costs of development and business models. There will also be a focus on the impact that Covid-19 has had on Italian developers, as well as questions about further obstacles to development and future prospects for the sector.
To refine the census, IIDEA has tightened to this year a collaboration with IDG Consulting, an international research company, in order to analyze in more detail the results of the questionnaires to provide a clear picture of the situation in Italy. The initiative is therefore aimed at all development teams, invited to participate in the survey by Sunday 28 March. The results of the census will then be published by the end of spring.
IIDEA regularly carries out this type of analysis. In the latest IIDEA report on the video game market for 2019 and published in 2020, it emerged that there are over 17 million players in Italy and that the sector has enjoyed a growth of 1.7% on an annual basis.
