Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a game naturally suited for cross-overs, given its very nature, for this reason even the proposal of Tomonobu Itagaki may not be so crazy, since he would like to see Ryu Hayabusa, protagonist of Ninja Gaiden, all inside the game.
Recently making a comeback with a new studio and a willingness to collaborate with Xbox again, Itagaki told the Dexerto website that he wanted to see Ryu as an additional playable character within Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, or at least that this would be his wish.
Unfortunately, the question does not really depend on him, having been out of Koei Tecmo for several years now, despite being the main responsible for the success of the series thanks the reboot implemented in 2004 and subsequent chapters. It would still be a pretty good introduction, although it would probably need to be somewhat sweetened, as blood and dismemberments would not really be appropriate in that context.
"Super Smash Bros is a very popular game," Itagaki said. "I think it's a nice stage to give Ryu Hayabusa an active role," said the game designer, who is back on the scene with Itagaki Games but doesn't know what exactly he's doing yet.
Looks like he's there. however, already a game in development by the indie team of the character in question, which could be a multiplatform title. As for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch, the latest 10.1 update brought Sephiroth to the ever-expanding roster.
