Cyberpunk 2077 has started: The new action role-playing game from CD Projekt Red was released on December 10th. Especially gamers on the last-gen consoles report serious problems: In addition to unsightly pop-ups, reloading textures and low frame rates can be seen. The refresh rate should drop sharply, especially in hectic scenes. For a new video, the experts at Digital Foundry took a closer look at the versions of Cyberpunk 2077 for PS4 and PS4 Pro.
In the clip below, you get a graphic and a frame rate comparison on the two consoles see. While Cyberpunk 2077 (buy now € 53.60) on PS4 mostly achieves rates between 25 and 30 fps in closed areas, the refresh rate drops sharply, especially when driving through Night City. During hectic firefights, values below 20 fps can be determined. Due to the better computing power of the PS4 Pro, the action role-playing game runs a little better here - with small frame rate advantages in action-packed scenes and on the open road.
You can get more impressions in the attached video. The action-RPG runs much more smoothly on PS5 and Xbox Series X, as can be seen from our previous play sessions. Our report on the console versions will follow soon - we only received additions late. You can read our test for the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 at this link.
