Minecraft with Google Earth to recreate the whole world in the game
Minecraft has the ability to reproduce the whole world through an ingenious system that uses Google Earth maps to recreate them through the typical block graphics of the Mojang game.

This is not an official partnership, but from the initiative of one user in particular, such KevinJNguy01 on Reddit, who has developed an interesting method to reconstruct various real locations in the world in the Minecraft-style version. We have previously seen similar initiatives, such as the map of Italy recreated with great fidelity in game, or more particular things like the entire Kanto region of Pokémon, but in this case it is about the possibility of recreating the entire planet Earth.

The system uses a program called RenderDoc which takes data from Google Earth and then allows you to clean up the various maps in Blender, to be exported as an object file.

KevinJNguy01 explained that, at this point, he uses his program to convert these files into a functional data package for Minecraft, with the need to then map all the textures, with various color associations based on the typical colors of the game and the real ones.

The quality of the final result largely depends on how well detailed the original Google Earth maps are, which is why the operation is better with well-mapped territories like New York, Tokyo and London compared to other z one.

The problem is that all of this can hardly be done by all users, indeed at least for the moment it will remain usable only by the software creator, KevinJNguy01: this is because the application was created specifically to achieve this purpose but cannot be distributed to the public, as it would imply an infringement of Google's terms of use for data.
